Court proceedings on Wau political detainees on Monday disagreed with a police investigator when he pleaded for his voice not to be recorded by members of the press.

Wau court opened a new file of more than twenty detainees, mostly those said to have pronounced a hunger strike in Wau prison two weeks ago, Voice of Hope reported.

Argument between the Police investigator and the judge interrupted the hearing for almost ten minutes as judges insisted that recording had to be done as a usual discipline since the special court was opened in February.

He stressed that they were instructed to make the hearing open for all including the media for fair judgments.

The investigator demanded that what he says should not to be broadcasted or published.

The presiding Judge insisted on recordings to continue as usual, but that the media respect the will of the investigator and not to broadcast full sessions until all hearings are closed.

Wau special court since the beginning gave the media freedom to do all the necessary recordings or photographing on condition that they do not interfere with the ongoing court process.

The detainees brought before the court consist of State MPs, chiefs, civil servants and youths.

The hearing was adjourned for Tuesday on matters related to documents not recorded.
