The Catholic Archbishop of Juba and his assistant exchanged the embrace of peace before all the Catholic leaders in South Sudan after two years of a tense relationship.

Bishop Santo Loku Pio read a Public Apology at the end of the ordinations mass on Sunday in St Theresa’s Cathedral-Kator for the “unfortunate misunderstandings” on his position as auxiliary bishop.

He recognized that “some were very disappointed, sad, offended, and felt even betrayed.”

Bishop Loku said: “Enough is enough.”

He added that he was “deeply sorry for the pain the situation might have caused to the archbishop, priests and faithful.”

Bishop Loku added that he forgave those who took part in the unfortunate event.

He vowed he would do his best to assist Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro, the archdiocese of Juba and its administration, clergy and faithful.

Archbishop Lukudu accepted the apology and thanked the Lord “for the graces of the day: ordinations, communion and reconciliation.”

He told Bishop Santo “you are still my son.”
