Educational Authorities in Western Bahr El Ghazal stared distributing primary textbooks in rural areas of the three counties in the state.
The textbooks, printed in South Korea, follow the new syllabus for South Sudanese primary schools, Voice of Hope reported.Director of the Distribution Program in the State Ministry of Education Michael Ricardo Ugali confirmed that 14 containers full of books reached Wau and they are sufficient to cover state’s needs.
He revealed that the distribution process began on Monday in rural areas of Jur River County and in Raja on Thursday ahead of the rainy season.
Mr Ricardo said the books would be distributed in Wau in early May after delivery ended in rural areas.
He explained that the entire syllabus was set by South Sudanese experts.
Mr Ricardo said the books should last at least for four years.
He highlighted the importance of the PTA or Parents and Teachers Associations to supervise distribution and help maintaining the books.
Mr Ricardo affirmed that the books will be distributed to both government and private schools equally.
The distribution comes one month after the school year started in the state.
