SOUTH SUDAN BISHOPS CELEBRATE STRENGTH OF TOGETHERNESS

The bishops and heads on diocese in South Sudan are celebrating the power and strength of togetherness through a two-day meeting that started on Friday in Juba.

Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro of Juba and Metropolitan of South Sudan said during his opening remarks that he called the meeting after some bishops manifested the need to come together, feel together and share together.

He thanked all the participants for availing themselves for the meeting.

Archbishop Lukudu explained that on Friday the participants would share about the Church and on Saturday about the situation in the country.

Archbishop Lukudu lamented the sudden death of Bishop Akio Jonhson Mutek of Torit.

He told his pears that they had to do something together to encourage the Vatican to provide Malakal, Rumbek and Torit with residential bishops.

The six bishops and three heads of diocese present at the meeting had in agenda for Friday the situation of the dioceses of Torit and Rumbek, diplomatic relations between the Vatican and South Sudan and the structure of Caritas South Sudan.

On Saturday they will discuss the situation of the country: tribal conflicts, Yau Yau rebellion, national reconciliation process and the way forward.
