State authorities of Western Bahr El Ghazal accused media houses of unprofessional coverage and disrespect for sovereign government institutions.

The charges came during a press conference over alleged reports of a hunger strike by detainees connected with Wau’s deadly violence, Voice of Hope reported.

State Director of Prison Service Michael Boutoko accused Miraya FM of interviewing prisoners without permission from the Prison administration.

Brigadier General Boutoko said the act was a clear abuse and disrespect for the administration of Prison Services.

He assured that Wau Central Prison was the best functional prison in South Sudan.

Brigadier General Boutoko asked the media houses operating in the state to contact the Prison Services Headquarters in Juba in case they need interviews or information.

State Government Spokesperson Derrick Alfred Uya accused some media personnel of breaking their code of ethics while carrying out their duties.

He charged that some media houses were destroying government efforts in nation building.
