JUR RIVER READY FOR CULTIVATION DESPITE CHALLENGES

Jur River County Commissioner confirmed that farmers in the county were ready for the new cultivation season despite of challenges with land preparations after state Minister of Agriculture Lilian Valentino visited Nyinakok on Monday.

John Arop Apai reiterated the county’s readiness for the new farming season despite of heavy presence of trees in farmlands and lack of tools to clear the trees, Voice of Hope reported.

The Commissioner explained that the only heavy machine in the county broke down and needed repair.

He announced that the new county headquarters in Nyinakok should be ready in two months time.

Minister Valentino promised all necessary assistance to address challenges facing farmers in Juba River County.

She added that recruitments will be done for the Agriculture Sector to be able to monitor policies of the Ministry to stop rampant deforestation.

Ms Valentino called on all sectors in the state and in the country to preserve forests and nature.

She announced the establishment of an office for Livestock Recourses in Jur River County to work hand in hand with community leaders and elders.
