Wau Court passed on Thursday morning sentences to four prison officers accused of taking active part in December’s deadly violence.
The Judge sentenced two wardens with different jail periods: Moses Arkangelo Mangu got two years and Kazmero Lubary Ramigo received six months and a fine of not more than 1,000 Pounds, both counting from the date of arrest, Voce of Hope reported.The two convicted police officers were charged with participating in the protest and offering financial support to protesters.
Two other suspects Suzanna Stephen Jiberal-allah and Kasber Peter Biajo were freed.
Mr Peter collapsed after the judge pronounced him innocent.
He had a long history of blood pressure and got an attack provoked by the happiness following the announcement of his release.
He was rushed to the hospital for medical care.
