At least three people have been killed and one injured following clashes between the Tirangore and Mura Hatitha communities over a land dispute in Hiyala Payam.
Speaking to Radio Emmanuel 89FM, the Head Chief of Hiyala Payam, Galileyo Ohide, said the incident occurred on Saturday at around 11:00 AM when members of the two communities clashed over grazing land.
The confrontation reportedly lasted until 3:00 PM, resulting in three deaths and one person sustaining injuries.
Chief Ohide expressed concern about the worsening security situation in Hiyala Payam and called for urgent intervention from the state government.
He also discouraged continued violence and urged residents to prioritize peaceful coexistence.
The Hiyala Payam head chief made the remarks during a phone interview with Radio Emmanuel 89FM on Monday.
