The Women’s Union in Western Bahr el Ghazal State, Wau, has confirmed its readiness to celebrate International Women’s Day, with a strong call for all women to actively participate.

During an interview with Voice of Hope Radio, the Union’s deputy chairperson, Carmela Augustino, stated that International Women’s Day is important for women to showcase their achievements at all levels within society.

She indicated that this day encourages women to learn and get to know about their rights and how to participate in decision-making positions.

The deputy chairperson of the Women’s Union invites women at the county and regional levels to participate in the celebration, which will be held on March 11, to highlight their social contributions.

Carmela Augustino appealed to the state government, all local organizations, and men to provide their support to ensure the success of the statewide celebration.

International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on March 8th around the world to remind women of their achievements and the challenges they face in securing their rights.
