The Acting Payam Administrator of Khorgana Payam has raised concerns over the absence of adequate health facilities in Fongo Nuer Boma, warning that the situation poses serious risks to residents.
Speaking to Voice of Hope Radio, Paul Claudio Musa said the Boma lacks basic health services, leaving the community vulnerable, particularly during medical emergencies.
Despite its proximity to Wau town, Musa noted that Fongo Nuer Boma does not have a functional primary health care unit to serve its population. He, however, commended local organized forces for supporting residents with medicines and limited treatment where possible.
Musa further explained that in emergency situations, patients are often forced to wait for extended periods at checkpoints while trying to secure transportation to Wau for medical attention.
He emphasized that the absence of ambulances and proper health facilities has, in some cases, resulted in preventable deaths, especially among victims of snake bites and other critical conditions.
The acting administrator called on the government to urgently deploy ambulances and establish a health facility in the Boma to ensure faster access to hospital care and reduce delays during life-threatening emergencies.
Local authorities say addressing the shortage of health infrastructure and reliable ambulance services in Fongo Nuer Boma is essential to saving lives and improving healthcare access for the community.
