President Salva Kiir travel for bilatarel relations in boosting investment in South Sudan

The President of the Republic of South Sudan His Excellence Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit departed Juba on Friday for Addis Ababa to attend the 39th Ordinary Session of the African Union Heads of State and Government Summit.

The high-level meeting, hosted at the headquarters of the African Union, is convened under the theme: “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063.” Leaders from across the continent are expected to deliberate on strategies to strengthen water security and accelerate implementation of the AU’s Agenda 2063 development framework.

Speaking to the press at Juba International Airport, Chief Administrator in the Office of the President Marik Nanga Marik said President Kiir will also participate in a meeting of the C5+ countries on the sidelines of the summit.

According to Marik, the C5+ discussions will be chaired by Cyril Ramaphosa and will focus on the current political and security situation in South Sudan.

The engagement is expected to review progress in the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement and explore regional and international support mechanisms to consolidate peace and stability in the country.

President Kiir was accompanied by senior government officials and was seen off at the airport by Vice President for Infrastructure Cluster Taban Deng Gai.
