The Central African Republic (CAR) has announced plans to establish its embassy in Juba, marking a significant step in strengthening diplomatic relations with South Sudan.
The announcement was made by CAR’s Special Envoy and Minister of Defense, Rameaux Claude, who said the move reflects the growing and positive relationship between the two neighboring countries.
Claude made the remarks following a meeting with President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday, during which both sides emphasized the importance of joint developmental projects aimed at improving the livelihoods of communities living along the shared border.
He noted that discussions also focused on security cooperation, particularly along the porous border between South Sudan and the Central African Republic.
Meanwhile, South Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Monday Semaya Kumba, said the two countries reviewed their bilateral relations and explored areas of cooperation, including investment opportunities and the mutual establishment of embassies in the capital Bangui and Juba.
During the meeting, President Kiir received a special message from his Central African counterpart, President Faustin-Archange Touadéra, delivered by Rameaux Claude, reaffirming CAR’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
