The Catholic Diocese of Tombura Yambio (CDTY) has assigned two of its clergy to serve in the Diocese of Malakal for a three-year term, reinforcing inter-diocesan cooperation and strengthening pastoral ministry within the Catholic Church in South Sudan.

The decision was announced through an official communiqué titled Diocesan Structural Number A, issued by the Bishop of Tombura Yambio, Rt. Rev. Eduardo Hiiboro Kusala.

The appointments, which were made public on Tuesday, form part of a broader series of diocesan reassignments dated 4 January. According to the communiqué, Rev. Wenengbi Moses and Deacon John Bangasu have been formally designated to take up pastoral duties in Malakal.

Prior to the new assignment, Rev. Wenengbi Moses served under the Ezo Vicariate, while Deacon John Bangasu was recently ordained alongside five other deacons. Both clergy will formally transfer from the Catholic Diocese of Tombura Yambio to the Diocese of Malakal.

In their new roles, they are expected to support pastoral outreach, spiritual care of the faithful, and the administrative mission of the Malakal Diocese, which continues to face evolving pastoral and institutional demands.

Church authorities say the deployment underscores the Catholic Church’s commitment to solidarity and shared responsibility among dioceses, particularly in regions requiring additional pastoral support.

Rev.Fr. Wenengbi Moses and Deacon John Bangasu are expected to assume their new responsibilities immediately upon arrival in Malakal, where they will serve for the duration of their three-year term.
