The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) has announced the closure of its base in Yei, citing global financial constraints that have forced the Mission to scale down operations across the country.

Mr. Victor N. Fasama, Officer in Charge, confirmed that UNMISS will hand over various items to the State Government while continuing to support all counties from Juba.

Governor Emmanuel praised UNMISS for its contributions to the state and pledged full support for the relocation. He urged the equitable distribution of the transferred items to government institutions to strengthen service delivery.

The announcement was made on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the Central Equatoria Governor’s office and was attended by Deputy Governor Hon. Paulino Lukudu Obede, State Minister of Peacebuilding Hon. Jacob Aligo Lo-Lado, and Field Office Analyst Mr. Benson Chiweshe.
