A high-level delegation from the Bank of South Sudan (BoSS), led by the Second Deputy Governor for Administration and Finance, Hon. Rita Nyankiir Akoon, on Tuesday, 18 November 2025, participated in the Ghana Cedi 60th Anniversary International Currency Conference in Accra.

The conference brought together representatives from more than 40 African central banks, global financial leaders, and international currency institutions, and called for deeper collaboration across the continent’s financial systems.

Ghana’s President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, officially launched the event, emphasizing the need for stronger cooperation among African central banks, reduced operational costs, and more resilient financial systems, especially amid increasing cybersecurity threats and the expansion of digital payment platforms.

For South Sudan, participation in the conference marks an important step in strengthening technical cooperation and enhancing monetary management. The BoSS delegation is taking part in discussions on currency policy, cash circulation, and mechanisms to improve monetary stability.

Hon. Rita Nyankiir Akoon noted that the conference provides South Sudan with valuable opportunities to learn from experienced central banks and international currency experts, particularly as the country continues to improve its financial architecture and institutional capacity.

The Ghana Cedi 60th Anniversary International Currency Conference continues with expert panels, technical sessions, and bilateral meetings aimed at shaping the future of currency management and financial innovation across Africa.
