President Salva Kiir Mayardit has called on newly appointed government officials to commit themselves to delivering essential services, promoting peace, and upholding national unity as they assume their new roles.

Speaking during a swearing-in ceremony held in Juba on Wednesday, President Kiir reminded the officials that their appointments come with great responsibility to serve the people of South Sudan with integrity and dedication.

“The people of South Sudan expect results,” Kiir said. “You have been entrusted with public office to serve the nation not individual interests. Deliver services, maintain peace, and strengthen our unity.”

Those sworn in include Tut Gatluak Manime as Advisor on National Security Affairs, Africano Mande Gedima as Minister of Presidential Affairs, Dr. Barnaba Bak Chol as Minister of Finance and Planning, and Moulana Athian Akec Ong’a as Head of the Legal Department.

President Kiir urged the new team to work collectively to restore public trust in government institutions and to address pressing economic challenges affecting citizens. He emphasized that his administration remains focused on institutional reforms, economic recovery, and national reconciliation.

“Our country needs peace and development to move forward,” Kiir said. “Let us work together to achieve stability and ensure that our people benefit from the dividends of peace.”
