Caritas South Sudan, under the Catholic Diocese of Wau and with support from Caritas International, distributed food items on Friday morning to returnees affected by the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

Speaking to Voice of Hope Radio, Luka Lawrence Ndenge, the Caritas South Sudan Coordinator in Western Bahr el Ghazal State, said the initiative targeted returnees from Sudan as part of their humanitarian efforts to improve the living conditions of vulnerable families.

Ndenge urged beneficiaries to use the distributed food items strictly for household consumption, emphasizing that the support is meant to sustain families for a few months and not for resale in local markets.

Several beneficiaries expressed appreciation to Caritas South Sudan for the continued support, saying the distribution came at a crucial time when many families are struggling to meet basic needs.

The food distribution took place at St. Mary Help of Christians Cathedral Parish in Wau and targeted 117 households from both St. Mary Help of Christians Cathedral Parish and St. Daniel Comboni Parish. Each household received sorghum, green beans, sugar, salt, and cooking oil as part of the relief package.
