Police in Eastern Equatoria State have confirmed the death of a 65-year-old man in Odikholong, Torit Town, who was allegedly killed by his wife during a domestic altercation.
Major Justine Kleopus Takuru, the state police spokesperson, said the incident occurred on Tuesday at 1 PM, after the woman returned home from collecting charcoal and found her husband intoxicated.
Clip 1 – Woman Kills Husband “The woman, Magdalena Iler, is in police custody. She claims the husband was drunk. During a fight, she pushed him, causing him to fall and hit his head against a tree. He died on the spot.”
Major Takuru urged chiefs and religious leaders to help raise awareness about the dangers of gender-based violence (GBV).
Clip 2 – Woman Kills Husband “These issues are rampant. Chiefs and citizens must intervene when fights occur. Report GBV cases to authorities—it’s a shared responsibility.”
The police are awaiting a full medical report, and investigations are ongoing.
