President Salva Kiir Mayardit has sworn into office newly appointed government officials, urging them to work together in unity and commitment toward national development and prosperity.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony at the State House (J1), President Kiir called on the appointees to “serve with integrity, collaborate closely, and place the nation’s interests above personal ambitions.” He emphasized that the appointments were a call to duty and a renewed commitment to the well-being of the people of South Sudan.
The newly sworn-in officials include Pieng Deng Kuol as Minister of East African Community Affairs, Denay Jock Chagor as Minister of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism, Rizik Zachariah Hassan as Minister of Transport, James Koang Chuol as Deputy Minister of Defense and Veteran Affairs, and Jacob Dollar Ruot as Governor of Upper Nile State.
In addition, President Kiir presided over the swearing-in of Samuel Yanga Mikaya as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority, along with the Non-Executive Directors of the Bank of South Sudan, whose terms were extended for another two years.
The Head of State underscored the importance of strengthening the national army, promoting peace and reconciliation among communities, and ensuring effective governance across all institutions. He also tasked the Civil Aviation Authority’s leadership with modernizing aviation services and promoting digital connectivity in line with international standards.
Also speaking at the ceremony, Simon Kun Puoch, the SPLM Third Deputy Chairperson, urged the newly appointed officials to uphold their constitutional duties and work diligently to advance national interests.
In his remarks, the newly appointed Minister of East African Community Affairs, Pieng Deng Kuol, pledged to serve the people of South Sudan with dedication and transparency.
The officials collectively reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the Constitution, strengthening laws and institutions, and ensuring that government systems function efficiently for the benefit of all citizens.
