Police in Western Bahr el Ghazal State have confirmed the arrest of three suspects in connection with recent killings and armed robberies along the Juba–Wau road.
Speaking to Voice of Hope Radio on Monday, State Police Commissioner Major General Abeniko Akol Ayoung said the three suspects were apprehended for their alleged involvement in the shooting and killing of Somali truck drivers on the Abyei–Wau highway.
“The three suspects are now in police custody for further investigation and possible trial,” Maj. Gen. Akol stated.
The Commissioner also revealed that five other suspects remain at large, bringing the total number of suspects to eight. He said the police and other security forces are actively pursuing the remaining perpetrators.
Gen. Akol called on the judiciary to impose strict penalties on those found guilty, emphasizing that crimes such as murder and armed robbery must be met with serious consequences.
“We must uphold the reputation of our forces and ensure the safety of citizens along all major roads,” he added.
He urged commanders across security sectors to monitor their personnel, enforce discipline, and uphold the dignity of the security services while protecting public safety. Police have reassured the public of their continued commitment to law and order in Western Bahr el Ghazal State.
