The Governor of Eastern Equatoria State, Louis Lobong Lojore, has expressed gratitude to President Salva Kiir and the National Ministry of Roads and Bridges for their swift intervention in rehabilitating the Lolere Bridge, which had been closed for three weeks due to severe structural damage.

The Lolere bridge had been a key link between Torit and Juba before the closure disrupted economic activity and left several vehicles and properties washed away by the river.

Governor Lobong officially commissioned the bridge back into use on Monday 11, Aug 2025, saying its restoration marks a vital step in reviving business, trade, and transport across the state.

He also commended Rhino Star Company, led by Managing Director Engineer Atem Ngor, for what he described as rapid and high-quality repair work.

Lobong assured residents that rehabilitation efforts will continue on other damaged bridges along the same road, including the Khor-English, Khor Galerio, and Khor-Timsah bridges.

Engineer Atem Ngor, in his remarks, thanked the state government for providing security and logistical support during the repair works, which allowed his team to complete the project on time.

The reopening of Lolere Bridge is expected to ease travel and restore the flow of goods and services across Eastern Equatoria and beyond.
