The Upper Nile State Minister of Information, Hon. Peter Ngwojo Akwiny, along with the ministry’s Director General, Nyok John, held a meeting with the National Communication Authority (NCA) to discuss strategies for improving telecommunications services across the state.

During the meeting, Hon. Peter expressed concern over poor network accessibility in several areas of the state, noting that inconsistent coverage and low-quality service continue to frustrate users and hinder communication efforts.

The Minister emphasized that these challenges have raised growing concerns among residents and clients, especially in remote and underserved areas. The state currently relies on Zain, MTN, and Digital networks to provide mobile and internet services.

Officials agreed on the need for urgent improvements to ensure reliable, accessible, and high-quality telecommunication services for all citizens in Upper Nile.

The Director General of the National Communication Authority (NCA), Gieth Mathiang Kun, has pledged to collaborate closely with telecommunication service providers to address the concerns raised by state authorities regarding poor network coverage and service quality.

He acknowledged the ongoing challenges in several regions, particularly in remote and underserved areas, and emphasized the government’s commitment to improving digital connectivity across the country.

Kun assured that the NCA will engage both Zain, MTN, and other operators to ensure reliable, accessible, and affordable communication services, which are essential for socio-economic development and security coordination.

The DG also highlighted the importance of joint efforts between national and state-level stakeholders in identifying network gaps and prioritizing infrastructure expansion.
