The Transitional Legislative Assembly of Western Bahr el Ghazal State has officially lifted its suspension of recess following the completion of several key legislative matters.
The decision was made on Monday after Hon. Mario Nyibang John, an SPLM party lawmaker, presented a motion citing Article 18 of the 2022 Conduct of Business Regulation. With the Speaker’s consent, the article allows any member to move for suspension or reinstatement of recess.
Hon. Nyibang stated that members had completed their legislative agenda, and it was time to recess.
Assembly Spokesperson Hon. Joseph Mawut Athain confirmed the approval and said MPs would begin their recess shortly, with a return to the house scheduled for June.
“This break follows intense legislative activity. Members will use this time to consult with their constituents and prepare for the next session,” said Hon. Mawut.
