Eastern Equatoria State Governor Louis Lobong Lojore has warned the public to avoid traveling to areas experiencing a suspected cholera outbreak, especially Greater Kapoeta.

He made the remarks during a public address this week, urging citizens to take personal responsibility in curbing the spread of the disease.

“There is a suspected outbreak of cholera in Greater Kapoeta. People are advised to take precautions, especially with movement.

We’re not restricting travel, but we ask the public to be aware. If you’re planning to go to places like Riwoto, please suspend that trip until the situation improves.”

Lobong further appealed to local churches to modify communion practices to reduce the risk of infection.

“I suggest that priests give communion by hand instead of directly to the mouth, for now, due to the suspected outbreak.”

He specifically urged young people engaged in pastoral duties to delay travel to minimize potential transmission.
