Three people have been diagnosed with cholera in Ndravi village, Heiban County, of the Nuba Mountains region.

According to Sister Annita Cecilia, Matron and Nurse at Mother of Mercy Hospital, the first case involved a mother, followed by two family members showing similar symptoms.

The hospital responded immediately to the suspected outbreak, isolating the patients for treatment.

While a child among the patients is reportedly improving, the condition of the mother and her 22-year-old son remains critical.

Sister Annita confirmed that both the hospital’s public health department and the region’s Secretariat of Health were informed. This marks the second cholera outbreak in Heiban County, following the death of a young girl in February at the same hospital.
