Voice of Peace in Crisis

Voice of Peace Radio, a Catholic media outlet in the Nuba Mountains, is facing one of its most challenging periods due to financial constraints that have led to major staff reductions.

Speaking during the station’s 16th anniversary, Fr. James William commended the five-remaining staff for their dedication.

“Other church institutions like schools and hospitals have some support. Unfortunately, the radio is the most neglected. William said.

Fr. Peter Suleiman, soon to be the vicar of the Diocese of El-Obeid, echoed his sentiments.

“The decline of Catholic radio stations is largely due to changes in administration. Voice of Peace remains one of the most vital platforms of the Church,” he added.Voice of Peace is one of seven Catholic Radio Network (CRN) stations in Sudan and South Sudan. Since 2015, the station has seen dwindling support, leading to the layoff of several workers.
