The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Torit, His Lordship Emmanuel Bernardino Lowi Napeta, has called on Christians to receive God’s anointment in order to serve others and fulfill their spiritual duties.
Speaking during Holy Thursday prayers at Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral, Bishop Lowi emphasized that anointment is not just a personal gift, but a spiritual responsibility meant to uplift and support others.
“The anointment that each Christian receives is for service. You are anointed to serve, to help others, to make a difference wherever you are.”
“This message is rooted in the love of God. We know God loves us because He created us in His image. God created us to be full, to be satisfied—but the devil wants us to be half full, so he can fill us with what doesn’t belong.”
He also urged the faithful to approach the Eucharist with reverence, highlighting the importance of understanding the sacred rituals of the Church.
“When we take Holy Communion, we come with respect. We don’t just say we’re going to eat something that looks like Jesus—we believe this is the Body and Blood of Christ.”
“Our problem isn’t that we are bad people, but often we lack understanding. Good intentions can lead to mistakes if we don’t fully grasp what we’re doing. That’s why understanding is so important.”
The catholic prelate made these remarks to the congregation during the Holy Thursday prayers at St. Peter and Paul Cathedral.
