MOH Inaugurates Public Health Emergency Operation Center in Western Bahr el Ghazal

The State Ministry of Health, in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), has officially inaugurated the Public Health Emergency Operation Center in Western Bahr el Ghazal State. This state-of-the-art facility will serve the entire Greater Bahr el Ghazal region.

The World Health Organization Field Coordinator for Western Bahr el Ghazal, Stanslus Barnaba, said that the center’s establishment aims to strengthen emergency response capacities across the region and ensure compliance with International Health Regulations.

The State Minister of Health, Dr. Francis Michael Hassan, highlighted the ministry’s role in managing and utilizing the center. He called on neighboring states within Greater Bahr el Ghazal to collaborate in improving the overall health system.

Dr. Hassan stressed the importance of collective responsibility and regional cooperation in addressing public health challenges.

The newly inaugurated center, renovated by WHO with support from USAID, is expected to play a pivotal role in improving health emergency preparedness and response across the region.
