State Ministry of Health Confirms 286 Cholera Cases in Lakes State

Lakes State — The Ministry of Health in Lakes State has confirmed a total of 286 cholera cases following an outbreak in three counties of the state. Mr. John Mading Mangar, the Director of Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation in the state’s Ministry of Health, provided the update in an exclusive interview with Radio Good News on Monday.

Mangar confirmed that 231 individuals have recovered, while 15 people remain hospitalized. He also reported that there have been 10 cholera-related deaths, including seven from Awerial County, one from Yirol East, and two from Yirol West. The latest confirmed case was reported on February 2, 2025, from Awerial County.

Awerial County has been the hardest hit, with 190 cumulative cases, followed by Yirol East with 59 cases, and Yirol West with 37. The authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.

Mangar emphasized that the cholera outbreak remains a critical concern for the state, and efforts are being ramped up to contain the spread of the disease.
