A groundbreaking three-day communal dialogue between pastoralists and farmers began in Wau, addressing long-standing conflicts between these two important sectors.

The dialogue, which brought together 60 participants, is a significant step towards fostering understanding and cooperation.

Stephan Robo Musa, a representative of peace partners, highlighted the importance of finding sustainable solutions to the conflicts that often arise between pastoralists and farmers, particularly during the rainy season when farming activities are impacted.

“This dialogue is an important step in resolving the tensions that have historically existed between farmers and pastoralists. It is essential that both sides work together for the greater good of the community.”

Angelina Anthony Uku, Director General of the State Ministry of Peace Building, emphasized that the dialogue’s primary goal is to promote understanding and resolve conflicts.

“The aim is to build trust and find long-term solutions to the issues that arise between these two communities,” she said.

This historic dialogue marks the first of its kind in Wau County, and it is seen as a major step towards fostering peace and cooperation between farmers and pastoralists.
