The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wau, His Lordship Bishop Matthew Ramijo Adam, has urged people to become beacons of hope in their lives and for those around them, despite their challenges.
In his message, the Bishop emphasized that many people place their hope in worldly possessions, forgetting that everything on Earth is temporary.
He reminded the congregation that true hope lies in being an example of resilience and faith for others struggling with despair.
The Bishop stated that the greatest tragedy is for a person to lose hope while they are still alive. “We must believe that tomorrow will be better,” he said, stressing the importance of maintaining hope even in difficult times.
He further encouraged people not to project their failures onto others, especially the youth. “If you have failed, don’t tell the young ones that they will also fail. Look at life positively and inspire hope in others,” he added.
Bishop Ramijo also spoke about the disintegration of family unity, noting that this breakdown often leads to societal issues such as the rise of street children—a phenomenon that was not common in African cultures. “Families must rekindle hope and solidarity to avoid further societal challenges,” he urged.
in closing, the Bishop called on everyone not to lose hope. “Encourage one another, remind each other that tomorrow holds promise,” he said, reinforcing the message of collective hope and support.
