A Catholic priest in the Diocese of Wau is urging South Sudanese, especially Christians, to reconcile with one another before the end of the year. The call comes as Christians worldwide prepare for the birth of Jesus Christ, the Savior.

Fr. Germano Bernardo Baku, speaking to the congregation at Holy Family Parish of Nazareth, emphasized the importance of forgiveness and reconciliation, particularly in times of division and conflict.

He explained that just as people ask for forgiveness from God, they must also forgive others, even their enemies before the year ends.

Fr. Baku noted that many people often take simple issues to court when they can resolve their differences through reconciliation at home.

He urged the congregation to understand and practice the true meaning of forgiveness and reconciliation, highlighting that this spirit is essential for peace and unity.

“People must have a clean heart full of forgiveness and reconciliation so that they can secure a place in God’s kingdom,” said Fr. Baku, adding that there is no opportunity to forgive after death.

As Christmas approaches, Fr. Baku called on Christians to cleanse their hearts to welcome Christ with peace, love, and joy.
