Uganda Court Martial in Makindye has adjourned until Tuesday, 10th December 2024 in the trial of Dr. Kizza Besigye and co-accused Hajj Obed Lutale Kamulegeya.

It’s reported that Dr. Kiza’s defense lawyers requested the adjournment to allow time to process the temporary practicing license for lead lawyer Martha Karua a Kenyan National.

This followed a closed-door meeting between the lawyers and Besigye which lasted for about thirty minutes.

Besigye and Lutale will return to the Court Martial on 10th December for the ruling and mention of their case.

The prominent opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye and his co-accused Hajji Obeid Lutale Kamulegeya were on Monday, December 02 brought in the dock at the Makindye General Court Martial for their bail application hearing.

On 16 November, Dr Kizza Besigye, a prominent Ugandan opposition politician and former presidential candidate for the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) political party, was abducted in Nairobi, Kenya.

He resurfaced on 20 November when he was arraigned in a military court in Kampala, Uganda, where he was charged alongside FDC member Haji Obeid Lutale with offenses relating to security and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

He was remanded to Luzira Maximum Security Prison in Kampala, Uganda
