Education Department in Nimule Worried of Transport to deliver papers ahead of Primary Education Certificate Exams

The authority of Education in Nimule Town of Magwi County in Eastern Equatoria state has said lack of transport to deliver South Sudan primary Education certificate examination for their candidates to the Centers remains a challenge.

Odumtula Hillary the chief inspector of Education in Nimule town council reveals that they are facing many challenge of mobility as primary eight candidates are approaching their examination.

South Sudan is expected to start exams to primary Eight Candidates from 18th-November-2024,

According to the education department, Nimule town council will not be able to go and collect the examination scripts from Torit as usual, citing that their education partners regrets poor road infrastructure from Nimule to Torit.

“The mobility we have is of our own, the ministry did not send to us any mobility since then, we are crying that we cannot go to Torit to collect our examination, if the ministry could think well they should bring the examination to us here then we give it to our children because we don’t have any mobility. We are previously sending our education clusters here who now very few amounting to three, when I talked to them this morning, they said they don’t have any meant to help to get examination from Torit because they said there donors says the route from Nimule to Torit is not good so they cannot go.”

Hillary laments also adds that the office is not having computers as they process office documents from the market hence resulting in delays in timely communication.

Nimule education department and the state ministry of education still send information in envelopes with vehicle drivers which may put information at risk, he adds.

“We have very little communication possibility and there is difficulty when sending some report to Torit, there is no proper channel because if you send by car you are to pay that driver 15,000 as per the situation, everything from Nimule town council when going to Torit will be delayed or something which will be send from Torit to us here which delayed the information.”

Despite the challenges the office is undergoing, the chief inspector of education in Nimule says candidates in Nimule are well prepared for their exams.

We have placed the candidate into their centers waiting for briefing for the examination, “chief inspector stated.”

“We are preparing our candidates for CPE, Certificate for Primary Education to sit examination of 2024, they are quite prepared as we have put them in their respective centers where if the examination come on Friday, they will be briefed by the external monitors who will be coming from the state with our supervisors here on Monday they will resume sitting, we have already talked with the security and the police, all matters are reported to the town clerk as our administrator here”

The education inspector made his statement to radio Emmanuel in a phone interview on Wednesday.
