A three-day Caritas partners’ meeting concluded on Wednesday with a strong call for increased coordination and unity among member partners in delivering humanitarian aid to South Sudan.
The meeting, held from Tuesday 24th to Wednesday 25th, focused on strengthening collaboration and developing a plan for Caritas’ future activities. His Lordship Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kusala, head of the Integral Human Development Commission, urged both the international Caritas body and the South Sudanese team to prioritize unity over competition in their efforts to help the country.
Bishop Hiiboro emphasized agriculture as a key area for Caritas’ intervention, advocating for its implementation as a nationwide project to address food insecurity.
Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kusala on Agriculture:
“Most of the food in this country is imported, yet we have fertile land. Can we focus on agriculture as a project that unites all corners of South Sudan? If we take this seriously, we can make it work.”
Member partners at the meeting included Caritas Austria, Caritas Germany, CRS, Cordaid, and CAFOD.
