Multipurpose  Training Center Handed Over to Magwi Community

The Eastern Equatoria State Government, in partnership with the Government of Japan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), officially handed over the Magwi County Multipurpose Community Training Center and Special Protection Unit (SPU) on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

The ceremony was attended by high-profile dignitaries, including the Governor of Eastern Equatoria State, H.E. Louis Lobong Lojore, the Japanese Ambassador to South Sudan, H.E. Toshio Odagiri, and the UNDP Representative, Mohammed Abchir. Together, they inaugurated the new facilities, marking a significant step forward in community development and local governance in Magwi County.

In his address, Governor Lobong expressed his deep gratitude to the Japanese government for its continued support of development projects in the region and commended the UNDP for its effective implementation of the project. He emphasized the importance of the new training center in enhancing local governance and improving service delivery to the community.

“The Multipurpose Community Training Center is a vital resource for strengthening local governance and enhancing service delivery to the community, which is essential for fostering peace and development,” Governor Lobong stated. He urged local leaders to ensure that the facility is used for the benefit of all residents, stressing the importance of community ownership.

“I encourage the community leaders to use this center responsibly, ensuring it serves the best interests of the people of Magwi County. This is a resource for everyone, and its success depends on the active participation and commitment of the entire community,” he added.

Governor Lobong also took the opportunity to praise the people of Magwi County for their hard work and dedication. He encouraged them to maintain peaceful coexistence, which he noted is crucial for attracting further international support and services to the area.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by state ministers and members of the Eastern Equatoria State Parliament, who accompanied the governor and the delegation in this important event.

The new multipurpose community training center and Special Protection Unit are expected to play a critical role in supporting local development, providing training, and ensuring the protection and well-being of the community in Magwi County.
