Eastern Equatoria State has recently added 1,853 teachers to its government payroll system. This significant development was announced during the official declaration of the Senior Four results.
State Minister of General Education and Instruction, Lopeyok Sammy Aperengole, revealed that the new recruits are assigned to various counties including Magwi, Ikotos, Torit, Kapoeta North, Kapoeta South, Budi, Imehejek, and Lofon. The distribution of these teachers is as follows:
“In the state there have rescued 1853 volunteer teachers in the government Paid role, Magwi: 354 teachers, Torit: 321 teachers, Kapoeta East: 327 teachers, Kapoeta South: 108 teachers, Kapoeta North: 115 teachers, Budi: 177 teachers, Ikotos: 256 teachers and Imehejek/Lofon: 192 teachers.
Minister Lopeyok emphasized that these teachers, who were previously volunteers, have now been formally recognized and are qualified based on their records and experience.
He also highlighted that the government allocates a new budget each year and encouraged individuals interested in the teaching profession to submit their documents to the State Ministry of Education. He noted that the government is committed to properly vetting and integrating new teachers into the system.
“The allocation of the new budget each year provides an opportunity for more qualified individuals to join the teaching profession. We invite those interested to submit their credentials. It is crucial that we ensure all our staff are qualified and can contribute effectively to the education sector,” Lopeyok said.
These remarks were made during the official declaration of the South Sudan Certificate of Secondary Education at the State Ministry of General Education and Instruction.
