As the ongoing Eucharistic Congress and Golden Jubilee of the hierarchy of the church in Sudan and South Sudan continues, the faithful of St. Mary Immaculate Parish in Terekeka are marking their parish feast with great joy and reverence.

The celebration is highlighted by the sacrament of confirmation, administered to nearly 1,000 parishioners, both young and old.

The sacrament is being conferred by His Eminence Stephen Ameyu Cardinal Martin Mulla, along with Bishop Santo Loku Pio Doggale and Archbishop John Baptist Odama. The large number of confirmands underscores the deep faith and commitment of the Terekeka community, which has gathered in full strength to participate in this significant spiritual milestone.

The Eucharistic Congress and Golden Jubilee events have brought together Catholics from across Sudan and South Sudan to reflect on the church’s journey over the past 50 years and to celebrate the Eucharist, which lies at the heart of Catholic worship. St. Mary Immaculate Parish’s feast day, celebrated in conjunction with these historic events, has added a local flavor to the broader celebrations, drawing attention to the vibrant faith of the Terekeka community.

Cardinal Ameyu, Bishop Santo, and Archbishop Odama, in their homilies, emphasized the importance of the sacrament of confirmation in strengthening the faith of believers and equipping them with the grace to live out their Christian calling.

They also congratulated the newly confirmed and encouraged them to be active participants in the life of the church and the wider community.

As the celebrations continue, the exact number of those confirmed will be updated. The event has been a significant moment for the Terekeka parishioners, who have embraced the occasion with enthusiasm and devotion, making it a memorable day in the life of their community.

The ongoing Eucharistic Congress and Golden Jubilee continue to serve as a unifying force for Catholics in Sudan and South Sudan, reinforcing their shared heritage and faith as they look forward to the future.
