The winners of AMDISS’ Innovation Hackathon from Round II dispatched to deliver the necessary planned activities in some parts of the states across South Sudan.

The Innovation Hackathon is part of the Sustainable Independent Media Activity (SIMA) project aims to increase access to credible information and promote sustainable media practices in the country being supported by USAID South Sudan through #IREX.

AMDISS reported that Irra Patrick Daniel, one of the winners of the Innovation Hackathon Round II, had successfully trained and distributed solar radio panels to approximately 40 beneficiaries in Torit County, Eastern Equatoria State on Monday 22 July 2024.

Meanwhile, CRN’s editor Chuol Janyand Nyakume Simon Maguek, some of the winners of Hackathon Round II, are making strides with their Farmers Informations Hub project in Leer, Unity State.

According to AMDISS, Tuesday 23, July 2024, Chuol and Wani Isaac from #IREXwere hosted at FM ahead of the media campaign and training initiative aimed at mitigating the effects of flooding on agriculture in Leer and Mayendit Counties.

This campaign is designed to engage the residents of Leer and Mayendit Counties in Unity State by raising awareness about the impact of flooding on their livelihoods.

The initiative will leverage media to create a platform for educating farmers on flood-resilient crops, gathering their input, and bringing in experts to discuss effective mechanisms for mitigating the effects of flooding on agricultural production.

Over the past few years, climate change has led to increasingly frequent and severe floods in the region, leaving many farmers reliant on humanitarian assistance.

By fostering dialogue and sharing knowledge, this campaign seeks to empower local farmers with the tools and information they need to build resilience against the challenges posed by climate change.
