National Examination Council (NEC) is worrying that the delay in Certificate for Secondary Education results makes those who sat for senior last year miss scholarship opportunities, calling the Ministry of Finance to release money to complete the process.
Speaking to the journalists on Wednesday, the Secretary General of NEC Simon Nyok Deng says the delay of the result is due to the failure to obtain funds to facilitate the final stages of processing the result.
Ustaz Nyok apologizes to the public mainly candidates of 2023, parents, schools, and other stakeholders for the delay in the release of CSE results timely this year.
“We understand the current economic hardship our country is going through, and therefore, I would like to kindly urge all the 2023 candidates, parents, stakeholders, and the Nation at large to be patient as we engage with the National Ministry of Finance and Planning to secure funding for the above-mentioned purposes.”
Nyok revealed that the Council had not paid the 2023 examination invigilators for both CSE and Certificate of Primary Education.
He calls the national Ministry of Finance and Planning to secure funds to quickly complete the remaining process of 2023 CSE.
Mr. Nyok acknowledged the commitment of the new National Finance Minister to prioritize and avail money soon.
“We appeal to the new Minister of Finance, Honorable August House members of the education committee, to urgently consider the fate of the candidates,” Nyok said
Nyok worried that those candidates who sat last year have already missed a lot of scholarship and tertiary education opportunities due to the delay of their results. “I, therefore, do regret the inconveniences caused by the delay in the release of these results and promise to release these results as soon as possible.”
More than 45 thousand candidates sat last year for the Certificate of Secondary Education in South Sudan.
