The Catholic Bishops’ of Seven Dioceses in South Sudan have gathered for three-day plenary meeting to discuss pastoral needs of Communion and Solidarity between the Bishops as well as the religious men and women in their Region.
Speaking during the opening the opening of the meeting at Metropolitan See of the Archdiocese of Juba, Stephen Cardinal Ameyu Mulla says, the Catholic Bishops’ will discuss “Political and Social Analysis,” situation in their dioceses, and update themselves about what is happening in their Dioceses.
Cardinal Ameyu adds that they also we will discuss and update ourselves on “Synod on Synodality” in the Unvisceral Church, and also discuss the insurance of all our clergy,
The creation of this important forum was always to be concern about the “Local problems of the Church he states.
He stresses that the provincial council allows the Bishops’ to better plan and coordinate their pastoral understanding, as they come to address the challenges and needs from their different Dioceses within this province.
“By meeting together, the Bishops’ can develop a deeper understanding of the particular circumstances of their region and effective ways to address the faithful and entrust to their care,”
His Grace says it’s important for the Catholic Church in South Sudan to revive their challenges and address them in the meeting.
He explains that, the bishops have gathered to share the challenges they face, and also to report the different successful stories they have in their different dioceses.
“It’s the time to express our communion, communion with one another as Bishops’ but also communion with our priests’ religious people, and the laity from these respective Dioceses.”
The meeting brought together all the Bishops’ from the Dioceses of Tombura-Yambio, Wau Catholic Diocese, Yei Diocese, Malakal, Torit, Rumbek, and the Archdiocese of Juba and the religious men and women respectively
The meeting is taking place at Catholic Relief Service (CRS), Juba compound, and is expected to end on Saturday the 29 of June 2024.
