Six killed, two wounded in Lakes State cattle raiding

Police authorities in Lakes State have reported that six people were killed and two wounded in Yirol East by the armed raiders suspected to be from Panyijar County in Unity State last week.

Lakes State Police Spokesperson Major Elijah Mabor Makuac says these people were during the raid after armed youth tried to steal goats in the area.

Major Makuac informed that among the six deceased, three were SSPDF soldiers and the other from the armed youth in the area.

According to the police spokesperson, those who lost their lives were trying to rescue their goats that were taken by the armed criminals.

Major Mabor highlighted that all the victims were from both sides the civilians and the security forces deployed in the area.

He additionally stressed that the security situation currently in the area is quite normal, referring to the chief inspector’s report.

Makuac further asks border communities to always remain calm and join up together with the State authorities to stop insecurity.

The Lakes State Police spokesperson was giving his security update remarks in his office on Saturday morning in the state capital, Rumbek.
