The Citizens in Western Bahr Ghazal State Wau complained over the unreasonable increase of water prices in the state after the Municipal Council collected generators from the well owners based on the measurements put across by the administration of Municipal Council but the well owners did not comply with the orders.

They asked the well owners why water prices are increased while the wells are not imported from outside the country but are dug by the people in the state.

Some of them express their worries over the effects of the high heatwave citing that water is the only source that can reduce such the effect of heatwave on people.

On the other hand, some of the well owners in Wau appreciate the need to provide enough water to the citizens at affordable prices but also they need their business to move on well.

The well owners explained that they are not the cause of the increase in water prices but the prices of fuel at the petrol stations are going higher than before.

They urge the municipality to cooperate with them so that they can be able to agree on a fixed price of water.

Meanwhile, the well owners also said that, if the price of fuel decreases they will reduce the price of water.

The Director of Health at Wau Municipal Council; Fangrasio Alberto urged the citizens to be patients because the municipality aims to ensure citizens get safe water.

Alberto added that the municipality is also concerned about the health of citizens otherwise if they allow the owners of wells to operate on their people will experience health problems.

The speakers made these remarks to Voice of Hope in Wau.
