Citizens are encouraged to embark on agriculture in Eastern Equatoria

The Eastern Equatoria State Governor encourages citizens to put more effort into agriculture activities to avert starvation in the country.

Louis Lobong Lojor during the International Women’s Day Celebration revealed that the skyrocketing prices in the market and delay of salaries are among the factors causing a lot of suffering to the citizens.

He told citizens to put more effort into agriculture to eradicate starvation in the state.

Lobong added that climatic changes have reduced agricultural practices, drying up water sources hence forcing communities to suffer from a shortage of water.

The Eastern Equatoria State governor revealed that misuse of resources and laziness are other factors that have contributed to hunger amongst citizens, he however called on women to commit themselves to business to earn a living.

He further warned foreigners to sell their products wholesale and leave the retail business to the South Sudanese people.

Lobong further said that the South Sudan government is doing its best to solve the ongoing economic hardship in the country.

He further directed Torit County to address land issues to assist the entire population living within the state capital.
