The National Ministry of Road, Central Equatoria State government in partnership with Japan International Cooperation (JICA) has on Friday (February 23rd, 2024) Launched the Albino Bridge in Juba.
The Albino Bridge which has been under construction since January 2023 by JICA, is the second bridge to be constructed by the Japanese government after the Freedom Bridge.
Deputy Governor of Central Equatoria State Sarah Nene who officiated the launch of the Bridge on behalf of the governor, appreciated the effort of the Japanese government to the people of South Sudan and Central Equatoria in particular.
Governor Nene called on the Juba City Council authority (JCC) at the level of quarter council leaders and residents of Kator Payam to plant trees around the launched facility
Nene urged residents to maintain and protect the bridge from unnecessary dumping of garbage
Japan Deputy Chief of Mission, Watanabe Tomoko applauded the project implementers of Albino Bridge who have worked tirelessly to overcome all challenges experienced during the bridge’s construction.
Tomoko pledges her government’s continued support in developmental projects in South Sudan.
JICA representative Tanaka Hiryoyuki said the projects by the Japanese Institution target three Bridges, Albino Bridge, Kokora, and Giada bridges.
He added that the Kokora and Giada bridges will be commissioned later this year.
Tanaka thanks the government of Central Equatoria State and the National Government for the cooperation accorded to his organization during the implementation of the project a contribution by Japan Tax Payers.
