The Bishop of Yei Catholic Diocese has encouraged the Christians to fast during this Lenten Period which started today with Ash Wednesday the first day of Lent in the Christians’s calendar
Bishop Alex Lodiong Sakor says fasting allows believers to encounter God and repent their sins
The church leader cautions that vulnerable people like children, pregnant women, the elderly and the sick will not fast because they need sustainability
The Bishop also says all celebrations of parties and last funeral rights will be paused until Easter Celebrations.
Bishop Alex has also urged the young Catholic Christians in the Country to postpone Valentine’s Day celebration despite always choosing it as a lovers’ day.
The Bishop says that as Valentine’s Day collides with the Ash Wednesday the young Christians should focus more on their spiritual life.
Bishop Alex says the Lenten season is a time of prayer fasting and almsgiving urging the Christians to pray with sincerity of heart.
Valentine’s Day is celebrated every year on February 14 when lovers exchange intimacy and it collided with the Ash Wednesday this year. Bishop Alex was giving his homily during Ash Wednesday at Christ the King Cathedral in Yei
