Members of Rumbek Diocese take off to attend Pope visit in Juba

The Diocese of Rumbek is urging all the parishes in the Catholic Diocese to get prepared for the pilgrim of peace in the New Year of January 2024.

The fourteenth-day days’ peace pilgrim will start on 6th January 2024 from the eastern deanery and finally be celebrated in the western deanery at Tonj Sacred Heart Parish.

Earlier this year, members of the Rumbek diocese walked hundreds of kilometers to attend Pope Francis’s ecumenical prayers in Juba.

Father Stephen Manager who oversees youths in Rumbek Catholic diocese urged each of the 17 parishes to bring four healthy young for a peace walk.

The Father Manager appeals to parish priests to select energetic and healthy youths because people are going to walk for two weeks.

Father Manager reveals that the requirements needed for the pilgrim is that each should contribute 10 thousand South Sudanese pounds.

He also adds that people should carry mattresses, blankets/Sheets, mosquito nets, and wear shoes that will not harm them during the walk.

“I urge you to carry your mattresses, blankets/Sheets, mosquito nets, and wear shoes that will not harm them during the walk,” the Reverend Father emphasized.

The Catholic Youth Leader made these statements during the conclusion of the Youth Congress in Tonj this week.
