More than three hundred Youths of the Western Deanery of Rumbek Catholic Diocese have concluded a three-day animation training at Tonj Sacred Heart Parish.

The 13th Youth Congress commenced on 27th December 2023 and has drawn youths from five parishes which include; Tonj Sacred Heart, St. Stephen-Thiet, Warrap St. Daniel Comboni-Marial Lou, and Romic parish.

A youth congress is an annual event initiated by the Diocese of Rumbek and it was celebrated under the theme ‘’One Body, One Spirit in Christ’’

Alfred Lual Deng, Tonj Sacred Heart Parish youth Chairperson says the congress was attended by the bishop of Rumbek and 12 priests from various parishes.

Clement Kau Mabey, a participant from Warrap parish reveals that the congress was a joyful moment that brought young people together and participated actively during training.

He adds that such congresses should be initiated always to promote peace in society.

Meanwhile, Marko Akuei, a youth member says taking care of youth bodies is a role of the young in their parishes and how to extend the message of God to others was among the topics taught in the training sessions.

Another participant Mary Nyandut Kook said most youths prefer leisure things to God but urged young people to put God first in everything they do, then things will work well.

The Youths made these statements in an interview during the youth’s congress conclusion in Tonj South County of Warrap State.
