More than 60 thousand primary school pupils are sitting for the South Sudan Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) for 2023.

The Exams started on Monday, November 20, 2023, and will end on Friday, November 24, 2023.

According to the timetable, the examinations start with Religious Education, followed by Social Studies on Tuesday and English Language on Wednesday while Science will be on Thursday and candidates end with Mathematics on Friday.

A total of 69,573 candidates have registered for this year’s CPE examinations, with 38,575 males and 30,998 females in 1,665 schools across 551 centers.

The Vice President for Service Cluster, Hussein Abdelbagi Akol rang the bell at Buluk Model Primary School for the start of the examination.

The Deputy Chairperson of the Education Committee in the Reconstituted Transitional National Legislative Assembly, (R-TNLA), Honorable Rosa Adau Deng, encouraged the candidates to be confident and take the examinations as a normal routine.

Deng lamented that there is no generation without education of the children because the best country in the world is one which has prioritized education.

The Deputy Minister of General Education and Instructions, Martin Tako Moyi appealed to the candidates to stay away from examination malpractices and threatened to nullify the results of schools that would be found involved in such examination acts.

The Deputy Minister also urges the invigilators and the security personnel not to allow cheating, because it is destroying the children and the future of the country.

Tako warned the candidates against buying fake exam papers that might surface on the internet.

The Vice President of the Service cluster, Hussein Abdelbagi Akol advised the candidates to take the examinations with sincerity, honesty, and confidence.

According to Abdelbagi, the country lost credibility in the examinations across the region due to rampant cheating cases and several other examination vices that often take place.

The Vice President directed the Ministry of General Education to thoroughly investigate and punish any school involved in the examination malpractice.

As the exercise progressed, there was one examination center in Uror County that had been affected by floods and 24 candidates could not take their examination.
