The Bishop of Rumbek Catholic Diocese Christian Carlassare has promoted Saint Stephen as Parish on the day of the St. Stephen Celebration.

In a statement seen by Catholic Radio Network the Bishop of Rumbek Diocese says, after listening to the positive view of the community of Salesians of Don Bosco serving from the area, St. Stephen is ready to be established as a parish.

The new Parish is located in Thiet Payam of Warrap State to make the second catholic Centre in the area after Don Bosco in Tonj.

“After having received entreaties from the people of God in Thiet, and having listened to the positive view of the community of the Salesians of Don Bosco serving in that area from Jonj, and having consulted the presbyteral council and assigned parish priest in charge, I now deem that the Christian community is ready to be established as a parish.”

Bishop Christian will promote St. Stephen Catholic Church on December 26, 2023, which is the feast of St. Stephen.

“The Decree will take effect on December 26, 2023, on the celebration of the feast of Saint Stephen.”

The Bishop disclosed that the day of St. Stephen will be celebrated every year as the day they received Parish.

The decree shall be considered promulgated by its publication, and will be read on December 26, 2023, in the presence of the parishioners of Saint Stephen Parish, “Says, and Bishop Christian.”

The upcoming parish is erected under the prescriptions of the 1983 Code of Canon law, canons 515 and 518, without reservation, and will be governed by all other canons related to the parishes.

The Bishop of Rumbek Diocese read this statement on 13 November 2023, in Rumbek Catholic Diocese.
